14.00 uur Procesintensificatie en Novel Process Windows, een paradigmashift voor procestechnologie en –instrumentatie
Micro Process Technology engineers and speeds up heat and mass transfer/transport. In addition Novel Process Windows (NPW) offers a chemical intensification field to redesign chemical transformations and to massively speed up reaction kinetics. This often demands operations very different from the classical process sheets. One has to deal with harsher conditions for process intensification: high-T, high-p, high-conc/solvent-free, explosive or thermal runaway regime. The NPW approach also comprises a process design intensification field with process integration in time and space (all-at-once, direct route, one flow-multi-step, transform to catalytic) opening ways to new/better products. All these three intensification fields demand for accurate and partly new ways in instrumentation and process control

15.00 uur Pauze en Rondleiding
16.00 uur Liquid flow meters for continuous flow chemistry processes: benefits for large and small scale applications
Scalability is one the key benefits of flow chemistry! Processes on an industrial scale can readily be screened and optimised on small laboratory scale. After this, the optimal sets of conditions must be applied in the plant. During the screening and optimisation, flow rates play a crucial role.
Kasper Koch, FutureChemistry

When the optimal reaction conditions at laboratory scale are determined, it is crucial to keep these flow settings and reaction conditions similar on larger ‘production’ scale. How to achieve this? Illustrated by a pilot production installation Flowid has realised.
Wouter Stam, Flowid

Further optimisation of flow chemistry on nanoliter scale is made possible by recent improvements in the field of accurate thermal and coriolis micro and mini fluidic flow sensors. Accurate and reliable flow measurement, however, becomes more challenging when flow rates and volumes decrease. In the presentation will be shown how a suitable solution can be found.
