Thin Film/MEMS event offers view on current state of the art

With three speakers from different backgrounds, MinacNed gave a broad picture of the application of Thin Film / MEMS technology on April 20. This event is freely accessible to members of MinacNed and the aim is to exchange knowledge between experts and interested parties on a specific theme.

Thin Film/MEMS applications

From Philips, Rob van Schaijk has provided insight into new technology applications, including a look at the future of ultrasound imaging. Richard Norte, assistant professor at TU Delft, showed in his presentation how thin film mirrors are used and which interfaces there are with other nano application areas. Aaike van Vugt, CEO of VSParticle showed that his company focuses on the endless applications of nanoparticles and the collaboration they enter into with strategic partners. Moderator Frank van de Scheur led the session in which the speakers were challenged in discussion and by questions from the participants.

MinacNed has tackled a broad subject here, in which the three presentations have their own perspective, which gave the participants a brief impression of the application of Thin Film / MEMS. Quantum photonics company Quix sells first photonic processor

The Enschede-based quantum photonics company QuiX has sold its first quantum photonic processor to Qontrol. This quantum technology company from the UK makes control electronics and supporting infrastructure for complex, massively multichannel photonic integrated circuits (PICs). Their applications can be found mainly in research laboratories worldwide.

QuiX, located at Kennispark Twente and cooperation partner of the ANP cluster for Applied Nanotechnology at the University of Twente, confirms with this sale that it is a leader in the world of light technology. With this photonics technology, they are making an important contribution to the development of the first quantum computers. These do not yet exist, but their introduction is coming ever closer. These computers are going to change the world radically, is the prediction. Just think of personalised medication. With quantum computing, it is possible to calculate exactly what the composition and quantity of a medicine should be for an individual. However, the fields of application are much broader. The technology can be used in sectors such as MedTech, the chip industry and agriculture. What is the best time to sow (precision agriculture), can you ‘smell’ cancer through your breath and therefore detect it earlier, and when does an aircraft need specific maintenance? The trick is to calculate exactly what the right moment is, with the help of a computer that can make unprecedented calculations.

Photonic processors from QuiX

QuiX develops quantum photonic processors for quantum information processing and simulation. Using the proprietary TriPleX platform, QuiX provides unique quantum photonic processors that are not only large-scale and fully reconfigurable but also low loss and widely transparent to all suitable quantum light sources. QuiX demonstrated the world’s largest quantum photonic processor in a product launch last December, which can be found here:

 

QONTROL as first customer

Qontrol, based in Bristol (UK), makes control electronics and supporting infrastructure for complex, massively multi-channel photonic integrated circuits (PICs). These PICs are now finding uses from telecommunications to fundamental science, and Qontrol’s products can be found powering them, in research labs worldwide.

RVO Webinar E-Health: Health Tech in Zuid-Afrika

NPS17 Online: The Netherlands Process Technology Symposium Webinars

This year the Netherlands Process Technology Symposium was going to be held at TU Delft on 4-5 November 2020. Due to the uncertainties surrounding Covid-19, the event is now postponed to 2021.

However, in order to provide an opportunity for the Dutch Process Technology community to connect and exchange ideas, this year NPS17 will take a new form: a series of webinars taking place in November 2020, within the overarching theme of “Sustaining the future”.  The webinars will also include pitch presentations for networking by PhD students and postdocs.

“Sustaining the Future” means developing new process routes, and re-innovating processes by applying known technologies across various industries. It is necessary to rethink the way industrial plants are designed and to bring engineering to the digital century to optimize process control.

Webinar Export en betaling: Letter of Credit voor beginners

Exporteer je en heb je onzekerheid over de betaling? Misschien biedt het betaalinstrument ‘Letter of Credit’ voor u uitkomst. Komende maanden organiseren we 3 webinars over Letter of Credit (L/C), op 3 verschillende niveaus’: basis, gevorderden en een afsluitende Masterclass.

Wat is een L/C? De Nederlandse vertaling voor L/C is kredietbrief. Het is een internationaal betaalinstrument, dat de verkoper betalingszekerheid biedt nog voordat hij de goederen heeft geleverd. Zodra de goederen op transport zijn, dient de verkoper de documenten in bij zijn bank. Uitbetaling volgt, zodra de documenten zijn goedgekeurd. Voor de koper is een L/C een zekerheidsinstrument, waarmee hij bewerkstelligt dat de verkoper tijdig levert.Een L/C biedt dus zekerheid aan beide partijen. Zeker wanneer je elkaar onvoldoende kent of het van overheidswege is vereist, is dit een uitgelezen oplossing

Elk webinar begint om 16.00 uur en duurt 45 minuten. Tijdens het webinar wordt ingegaan op praktijkgevallen van mkb bedrijven in de metaal. De webinars worden gegeven door Marloes Wittebroek en Hans Noordzij. Marloes is directeur van Elceco. Zij is gespecialiseerd in de afhandeling van L/C’s voor exporterende bedrijven en wordt regelmatig ingehuurd door leden van Metaalunie. Hans komt uit de financiële wereld en is een ervaren gastdocent.

Op 26 oktober leer je aan de hand van een echte casus de grondbeginselen van het werken met een L/C. Wat is het, hoe werkt het, wat moet je doen en wat moet je laten?

Tijdens het webinar op 17 november worden ervaringen uitgewisseld: “Uiteindelijk heb ik wel mijn geld ontvangen, maar het was wel een gedoe!”. In deze module leer je het L/C naar je hand te zetten. Hoe leg je je eigen voorwaarden duidelijk uit aan je klant? Wat is belangrijk om op te nemen en wat kan je weglaten? We gaan aansturen op directe betaling bij aanbieding documenten.

Tijdens de Masterclass voor gevorderden op 3 december wordt nagegaan of je alles uit een L/C haalt. In de masterclass wordt ingegaan op vragen als ‘Hoe voorkom ik voorbehouden van de bank? Hoe zorg ik ervoor dat er geen onuitvoerbare voorwaarden in het L/C komen te staan? Hoe kan ik lering trekken uit eerder gemaakte fouten? Hoe optimaliseer ik het interne proces tussen de financiële afdeling, verkoop en logistiek?’ Het komt allemaal aan de orde in deze module!

Kick-off webinar waterstof Frankrijk

Wilt u meer weten over de ontwikkelingen en zakenkansen van waterstof op de Franse markt? Meld u dan aan voor het Kick-off webinar waterstof Frankrijk op 23 maart.

De Franse regering heeft in 2020 haar nationale waterstofstrategie gepresenteerd. Hierin is ruim 7 miljard euro beschikbaar gesteld tussen nu en 2030, voor de ontwikkeling van een koolstofarme waterstofindustrie. Dit biedt kansen voor Nederlandse bedrijven.

Waterstofsector in Frankrijk

Waterstof kan in veel sectoren worden toegepast: van de industrie, tot mobiliteit, energieopslag en distributie. Frankrijk heeft belangrijke spelers op dit gebied, zoals Safra (bus), Alstom (trein), Faurecia (waterstoftanks), Symbio (brandstofcel), Air Liquide, Schlumberger (energiewinning) en McPhy (productie van groene waterstof).

SIA Partners heeft een sectorstudie uitgevoerd naar de ontwikkelingen, kansen en mogelijkheden in de waterstofsector in Frankrijk. Dit onderzoek werd gedaan in opdracht van Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO), de Nederlandse ambassade in Parijs, NBSO Lyon en NBSO Nantes.

Voor wie?

Dit online evenement is interessant voor grote, middelgrote en kleine Nederlandse bedrijven en start-ups met ambities in Frankrijk. Daarnaast kan de sectorstudie van belang zijn voor kennisinstellingen en brancheorganisaties.
